9:00 a.m. – Registration and Refreshments: Clay County Fairgrounds

9:25 a.m.  – Introductions – Lindsay Waechter-Mead & Brandy VanDeWalle, Nebraska Extension Educators

9:30 a.m. – Dillon Fogarty, PhD: Program Coordinator for Working Lands Conservation-
“Tackling Eastern Redcedar: Winning Strategies for Nebraska’s Grazing Lands” Group Management Workshop

11:45 a.m. – Lunch and Learn Rotation

A. Dystocia Management Workshop – Dr. Lindsay Waechter-Mead, Beef Extension Educator
(30 minutes) Hands-on tips on assisting the cow during calving using a life-sized model.

B. Lunch and Learn “Calf Resuscitation” – Dr. Becky Funk, Animal Health and
Teaching Extension Specialist, GPVEC. (30 minutes) Enjoy lunch while learning
strategies to resuscitate the newborn calf.

C. Mobile Beef Lab – Nathan Haman, Extension Assistant and Brent Plugge, Beef Extension
Educator (30 minutes) Reach inside the rumen of a steer and review the process of
ruminant digestion.

1:30 p.m. – Jessica Groskopf and Brent Plugge, Nebraska Extension Educators
“2023 Pasture Leases” This workshop will review the latest results from the Nebraska Farm Real
Estate survey including cash rental rates and land values. We will also discuss leases, terminating
verbal agreements, lease clauses, and landlord-tenant communication. Both landlords and
tenants are welcome to attend.

3:00 p.m. – Coffee Shop Panel Wrap-up – Lindsay Waechter-Mead, Moderator

3:30 p.m. – Closing Remarks, Door Prize for Surveys & Thanksto Sponsors/Presenters
