2020 Nebraska Beef Ambassador, Dakota Lovett
Dakota Lovett of Blue Hill became the 2020 Nebraska Beef Ambassador in June and talks with RRN about this role.
Since being named the 2020 Nebraska Beef Ambassador, Dakota has been working on the Great Life Great Steaks campaign with the Nebraska Beef Council and Rural Radio Network. All t-shirt proceeds went to the Food Bank of the Heartland and Food Bank of Lincoln. Later this year Dakota plans to be back in school and attend the Sandhills Ranch Tour in September. Dakota plans to keep “promoting Nebraska beef and educating everyone on it.”
Why did you choose to apply to be a beef ambassador?
It is something that I’ve always looked forward to trying out for. I felt that it was a calling of mine, I have a big passion in the beef industry and meat industry. I’ve grown up in that industry and I don’t know any industry like it. I love learning new things and talking with others about their operations and what I can do as a young cattleman to help the industry.
What is one thing you hope to take away from being a beef ambassador?
Connections. I think this title allows you to meat so many people throughout the state and the Nebraska Cattlemen’s organization. I also want to learn what I can do to help promote the beef industry.
Dakota is also interning at the U.S. Meat Export Federation sponsored by the Nebraska Corn Board. During his internship he has been gathering 2019 corn exporting numbers through the US and Nebraska.
