Midyear came rolling to an end Wednesday evening finishing up with the annual General Session. Mike Drinnin, NC President, introduced the featured speakers this year as Jennifer Houston and Kyle Schneweis and the Keynote Speaker, Ron Brown.
Jennifer Houston is the current NCBA President and discussed hot topics that NCBA is working on for beef producers. She highlighted one ongoing effort of “Chuck Knows Beef” which is an online platform that gives you information about everything beef and cattle industry. Need a recipe? Ask Chuck. Wondering about The Beef Checkoff? Easy, Ask Chuck. For more information go to www.chuckknowsbeef.com.
Kyle Schneweis, Nebraska Department of Transportation, had a question and answer discussion with our members about the progress of the current roadways that were impacted by the severe weather that hit our beloved State earlier in 2019. Kyle informed us that they are doing the best that they can to get everyone back up and running with the quickest routes possible. Many of the main roads have been fixed at least temporarily until crews can get onsite to do permanent work. Nebraska Cattlemen has worked successfully with Kyle and his team on a few issues since Kyle was appointed by the Governor.
Ron Brown, University of Nebraska Cornhusker Football Program, wrapped up the session with an uplifting talk about life events and perception. Ron often gives that same talk to his players on dealing with losses, advancements, and changes on and off the field.
Nebraska Cattlemen looks forward to planning next years Midyear and we hope to see many of you there! Until then…
