2019 Members in the Meadow
Nebraska Cattlemen hosted their annual Members in the Meadow event on August 9th at the Bestol Masek Ranch near Purdum, NE. The annual event is set up every year to talk membership and raise funds for both the NC and NCBA PAC (Political Action Committee.) NC members from across the state made the trip to central Nebraska to enjoy a fun evening.
The evening started off at 5:00 PM with social hour. During this time, attendees enjoyed music by Mike and Lyn Baxter of Ainsworth and stunning views of the North Loup River. A silent auction was also available during this time. A few of the items on the auction included a United States of America flag that had been flown over the US Capitol, NCBA swag, a moscow mule party kit, and various other fun items.
Before supper was served at 6:00 PM, Jacob Mayer, emcee, welcomed everyone to the event. Brenda Masek then welcomed everyone to their ranch and the Purdum area. She also took time to explain the importance of becoming a Nebraska Cattlemen’s member.
Everyone then dove into a delicious supper that consisted of smoked brisket, a plethora of salads, and many desserts. A live auction took place once supper had concluded with Mike Baxter auctioneering. The live auction items included 3 rib roasts and fencing supplies.
Jacob Mayer made the following statement regarding the event, “Members in the Meadow provides a relaxed atmosphere for people to celebrate the accomplishments of our association. There wasn’t any lengthy speeches or important business to discuss; just great food and fellowship. The aspect of this event that I enjoy most is traveling to a part of the state I don’t spend much time in and interacting with members I wouldn’t have met otherwise and hearing their perspective on issues that matter to Nebraska Cattlemen.”
A big thanks goes out to Neogen for their continued sponsorship of this event. Their support ensured Members in the Meadow to be a success.
